League Rules
Rosters

• Starters (11)

1 Quarterback

2 Running Backs

3 Wide Receivers

1 Tight End

2 Flex (WR/RB/TE)

1 Kicker

1 Defense

• Bench (6)

- Set to 6 players to have backups and players to hold for the future. Also, in place to promote trade transactions.

• Injured Reserve (2)

- Just because your star player is out for the season does not mean you should have to drop him in order to free up a roster spot to continue to compete.

Inaugural Draft

• The Inaugural TGL League Draft (2016)

- Throughout my extensive research on the matter, I have determined the fairest format for holding the initial draft is by way of the Third Round Reversal (3RR) fantasy draft method.

- With the 3RR, the draft picks will be setup up in the following manner:

- 1st Round: Picks 1-10

- 2nd Round: Picks 10-1

- 3rd Round: Picks 10-1

- 4th Round: Picks 1-10

- 5th-17th Rounds: Snake Format (starting with 10-1)

Practice Squad Rosters, Drafts, etc

• Practice Squad Roster (3-6)

- In Year 1, the Practice Squad Roster will consist of just 3 players (obtained from the Rookie Draft). By Year 2, a maximum of 6 can be reached.

- To build a Practice Squad Roster, a Rookie Draft will be implemented and will follow these guidelines:

- Each season, the Rookie Draft will consist of 3 rounds - equating to 3 players selected per team.

- Each member of the league will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Round Draft Pick at their disposal - these draft picks can be traded.

- The Practice Squad Roster can never exceed 6 players. If so, players must be dropped or promoted to 17-Man (NFL) Roster.

- Trading of draft picks can occur before, during, or after the draft.

- Essentially, the Practice Squad is made up of current AND former rookies of the league. If you have a rookie that will require more than a few years to bud into a superstar, you can keep said player on your Practice Squad until that time comes and not have to drop him in an effort to make room on your 17-Man (NFL) Roster.

- If a rookie is a day 1 standout, promoting him to the 17-Man (NFL) Roster makes him ineligible to return to ANY Practice Squad Roster.

- Year 1 Rookie Draft - reverse of the random order generated for the 17-Man (NFL) Roster Draft (if one has the 1st overall selection in the 17-man draft, they will have the 10th overall selection in the RD). This inaugural Rookie Draft will follow the 3RR format.

- Year 2 Rookie Draft and beyond - will be based on the prior season's final playoff standings. These drafts will be straight drafts, NO snake/3RR. This will help promote parity throughout the league.

- The Practice Squad Rosters and Drafts will be monitored and recorded by the League Commissioner on the League webpage.

• Promotion of Practice Squad Players

- A Rookie can be promoted to your 17-Man (NFL) Roster at any time prior to, during, or after the season.

- Simply notify the commissioner of your decision and the player will be added to your 17-Man (NFL) Roster. Keep in mind, a player may need to be dropped when the promotion takes place to keep your roster at the 17-Man (NFL) Roster requirement.

- Once a player is promoted, said player cannot be relegated back to ANY Practice Squad Roster.

- A Rookie can remain on the Practice Squad for as long as the team manager sees fit.

- If a Practice Squad player is promoted during the season and subsequently designated as a keeper for the following season, see the following:

• Practice Squad Keepers for 17-Man (NFL) Roster

- Any player on the Practice Squad can be designated as a keeper for your 17-Man (NFL) roster for the following season.

- If a player that began or ended the season on the Practice Squad and is designated as one of your allotted keepers, your lowest draft pick(s) for the subsequent draft will be surrendered.

- These draft picks can be used as team assets and be traded away for players and/or more draft picks.

• Practice Squad Keepers to remain on Practice Squad Roster

- As long as the player has not been promoted to your 17-Man (NFL) Roster, any Practice Squad player can be kept for the following season.

- A maximum of 3 players can be kept on your Practice Squad following Year 1 and a maximum of 6 following Year 2.

- Keepers for your Practice Squad will need to be submitted to the commissioner by March 31st of each season. You are NOT required to keep the maximum allotted number of players to make up said roster. However, you will still only receive 3 Rookie Draft Picks.

- If a Practice Squad player is not kept, they will become a Free Agent; losing their Practice Squad status in the process.

• The Trading of Practice Squad Players

- If a trade occurs involving Practice Squad players, they will retain their Practice Squad designation. This can only change if the acquired Practice Squad player causes the roster to exceed 6 players. In this case, a player off the Practice Squad Roster must be dropped to make room for the acquired player or the acquired player must be immediately promoted to the 17-Man (NFL) Roster. Keep in mind, if a Practice Squad player is promoted, a player may need to be dropped from the 17-Man (NFL) Roster to make room.

• Starting Practice Squad Player from Another Teams Practice Squad Roster (Clarification Added October 10th, 2016)

- Due to the limitations of Yahoo, the opportunity to acquire a Practice Squad player through the free agency pool is possible. In the event a Practice Squad player from another team's roster is started in your weekly lineup, that position will receive zero points upon its discovery (no matter when that discovery occurs).

• Drafting Rookies in 17-Man (NFL) Draft/Undrafted Rookies from Rookie Draft (Amended April 2nd, 2018)

- The drafting of Rookies in the 17-Man (NFL) Draft is allowed.

- Rookies drafted in the 17-Man (NFL) Draft must be designated to one of the following rosters prior to the start of the season:

(a.) Practice Squad - assuming the max of 6 roster spots are not maxed out or roster spot is or can be made available

(b.) 17-Man (NFL) - said Rookie will lose their eligibility to be optioned to ANY Practice Squad roster in the future

- If a Rookie goes undrafted in the annual Rookie Draft or the 17-Man (NFL) Draft an owner may use their Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) to obtain undrafted rookies.

- If a Rookie is obtained through free agency and has not been promoted to any 17-Man (NFL) roster at any time, the acquiring party can choose to designate the Rookie to the Practice Squad so long as the roster size limitation is upheld. The franchise also has the option to promote said Rookie to their 17-Man (NFL) Roster.

• The 'Kyle Griffin Clause' (Added September 1st, 2017)

- Acquiring more than the allotted 17 draft picks is allowed, however, only 17 roster spots will be available by the start of each season.

- If owner accumulates more than the 17-man limit prior to the season, they must do one of the following to have legal roster prior to week 1:

(a). Drop appropriate amount of players from roster to maintain the 17-man roster

(b). Place injured individuals on Injured Reserve (IR), making room for additional players - Yahoo! will determine who will qualify for IR

Acquiring/Releasing Rookies

• Acquiring Rookies through the Waiver Wire - Roster Implications (Clarification Added July 26th, 2016)

- In the instance a player in their rookie season goes undrafted in the TGL Rookie Draft and ends up being picked up off the waiver wire following the TGL Rookie Draft or during the NFL Season, said manager has the option to place this rookie on their Practice Squad or 17-Man (NFL) Roster as long as a roster position is available or players are dropped to make space available.

- To formally place a player on the Practice Squad, the team manager must notify the League Commissioner within 2 days following the acquisition and the maximum number of roster positions must not be breached for the rookie to qualify.

- The Waiver Wire Bidding System (or FAAB) must be used to acquire a non-drafted rookie free agent. Once the player is obtained, the team manager must notify the Commissioner of his roster intentions and the Commissioner will notify the league of that particular rookies standing.

- If the acquired rookie is added to the 17-Man (NFL) Roster, the player dropped in the waiver wire transaction will remain as dropped. If the acquired rookie is added to the Practice Squad Roster, the player dropped in the waiver wire transaction will be reinstated to said 17-Man (NFL) Roster, but (assuming a full Practice Squad Roster prior to new acquisition) a Practice Squad player must be dropped in order to adhere to Practice Squad Roster limitations. Must notify the League Commissioner within 2 days following the acquisition in order to reclaim player(s) and complete the transaction.

- If the rookie is immediately designated for the 17-Man (NFL) Roster, said player will no longer qualify for ANY Practice Squad.

• Dropping Rookies from the Practice Squad (Clarification Added April 24th, 2016)

- In the case a Practice Squad player is dropped from said roster during the players rookie season, they will enter the free agent pool as a rookie, meaning, any team that acquires him through the Waiver Wire Bidding System can designate this individual to their Practice Squad.

- In the case a Practice Squad player is dropped from said roster after the players rookie season, they will enter the free agent pool no longer with rookie status, meaning, any team that acquires him through the Waiver Wire Bidding System CANNOT designate this individual to their Practice Squad and must be placed on their 17-Man (NFL) Roster.

Waiver Wire System

• Waiver Wire (WW) System - Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB)

- The FAAB is a ‘bidding’ system in which each team is allotted $500 prior to the start of the season.

- No minimum bid amount is required.

- Bids are hidden to other managers until a player clears waivers.

- The waiver priority will only take effect when the top bids are the same amount. Team with lower waiver priority receives the free agent.

- Bids are strictly for free agents on waivers. Once waivers clear (Tuesday night), free agents are then open to the entire league.

Keeper Drafts, Rules, etc

• Keeper System (Amended November 8th, 2016)

- Each season the maximum number of keepers allowed will increase by two (subject to change):

- After Year 1: 6 Keepers

- After Year 2: 8 Keepers

- After Year 3+: 10 Keepers

- You ARE obligated to keep the maximum number of keepers each offseason.

- There is NO LIMIT to the amount of years a player can be on a roster.

- When keepers are selected following the first season (2016-2017 keepers), a draft pick will be forfeited equal to where each keeper was selected in the previous season's draft (2016 Draft) plus one round for the 2017 Draft.

- In the example of 2016-2017 keepers below, Julio Jones forfeits a 2nd round pick, Aaron Rodgers - a 5th Round Pick, Chris Ivory - a 17th round pick, and Thomas Rawls - a 16th round pick for the 2017 Draft. If you intend on keeping a 17th Round Pick from the season before (an 18th Round does not exist when adding (+1)), the latest possible draft round will be forfeited.

2016-2017 Keepers - EXAMPLE

WR Julio Jones - ATL | 2016 Round 1 (+1)

QB Aaron Rodgers - GB | 2016 Round 4 (+1)

RB Chris Ivory - NYJ | 2016 Round 16 (+1)

RB Thomas Rawls - SEA | 2016 Round 17 (+1)

- For those designated as a 2017-2018 keeper, the rank designation will determine the Draft Pick to be forfeited for the 2018 Draft (& Beyond). In the example below, Julio Jones forfeits a 4th round pick, Aaron Rodgers - a 5th Round Pick, Thomas Rawls - a 6th round pick since they are considered CONSECUTIVE keepers.

- Since both Doug Baldwin and Rob Gronkowski were not keepers for 2016-2017 and were able to be selected in the 2017 Draft, they forfeit a 2018 draft pick based on where they were selected plus one round in the 2017 Draft. In this case, Baldwin forfeits an 5th round pick for 2018 while Gronkowski forfeits a 7th round pick for the 2018 draft. In this example, this team would have a 1st-3rd, 9th-17th Round Draft Picks available.

Notice: When ranking your CONSECUTIVE keepers, the manager designates which round they want to forfeit. A strategy is involved when determining where you want your keepers to fall. Choose the best rank position in order to retain the best available draft position. In this scenario, the manager has been able to secure draft picks in the first 3 rounds.

2018 Keepers - EXAMPLE

1. WR Doug Baldwin - SEA | 2017 Round 4 (+1)

2. TE Rob Gronkowski - NE | 2017 Round 6 (+1)

3. WR Julio Jones - ATL  | Consecutive (+1)

4. QB Aaron Rodgers - GB | Consecutive (+1)

5. RB Thomas Rawls - SEA | Consecutive (+1)

2018 Keepers - FINALIZED

WR Julio Jones - ATL | 2018 Round 4

*** WR Doug Baldwin - SEA | 2018 Round 5

*** QB Aaron Rodgers - GB | 2018 Round 6

RB Thomas Rawls - SEA | 2018 Round 7

TE Rob Gronkowski - NE | 2018 Round 8

*** Both Doug Baldwin and Aaron Rodgers surrender a 5th round pick. Therefore, Rodgers' forfeiture moves to the 6th round, causing a cascade effect on the draft picks following it. (For Example, Thomas Rawls forfeits a 7th Round - instead of 6th - and Rob Gronkowski forfeits an 8th Round - instead of a 7th Round.

2019 Keepers - EXAMPLE

1. QB Dak Prescott - DAL | 2018 Round 2 (+1)

2. RB Joe Mixon - CIN | 2018 Round 3 (+1)

3. WR Doug Baldwin - SEA | Consecutive (+1)

4. TE Rob Gronkowski - NE | Consecutive (+1)

5. WR Julio Jones - ATL  | Consecutive (+1)

WR Julio Jones - ATL  | 2019 Round 7

• The 'Adrian Peterson Rule' - Any player that is drafted and subsequently dropped into the free agent pool at any time throughout the season, that player's respective draft position is immediately wiped away.

- For example, if Adrian Peterson is drafted 1st overall and gets arrested prior to the start of the season and his owner proceeds to drop him from his roster, anyone that picks Peterson up off waivers and names him a keeper can submit the forfeiture of the lowest possible draft pick (i.e. A 17th Round Draft Pick) in the next draft.

• Keepers Of Same Draft Round - In the case a trade (or other means of acquisition) allows a team to keep multiple players with the same draft round (For Example, 2nd round), said draft round will be forfeited (2nd round) and the next lowest available draft round (3rd round). If the 3rd round has already been forfeited or traded by the affected team, the 4th round draft pick will be forfeited.

• Trades Involving Keepers - In the event a trade is completed involving players of keeper status, the players involved in the trade WILL inherit their keeper draft position from their previous owner. The only way a player avoids losing their draft position from years prior is explained in 'The Adrian Peterson Rule'.

• The Trading of Draft Picks & the Effect on Keepers (Clarification Added 8/15/17) - In the event a future draft pick is traded away (i.e. 2017 2nd Round Draft Pick) and a Keeper is selected to forfeit that same Draft Round (i.e. 2nd Round Draft Pick), the traded draft pick will hold its position while the Keeper will move down one Draft Round. In this case, the team that traded its 2nd Round Draft Pick, rendering that position vacant, will have its Keeper of 2nd Round status forfeit a 3rd Round Draft Pick as well.

- Prior to the Keeper Deadline, All 17 draft picks are at the owner's disposal as trade assets. However, once selected Keepers are locked, the picks those Keepers occupy will no longer be available as trade assets.

• The Playground Rule (Added 9/4/16) - The same two teams cannot be involved in the trade of the same player(s) is the same season.

Team Assets

• Trading Assets - Team Assets

- 17-Man (NFL) Roster Players

- Practice Squad Players

- Dynasty Draft Picks (Current and Future Season's Picks)

- Practice Squad Draft Picks (Current and Future Season's Picks)

- Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) Currency

Regular Season/Playoffs Structure, Payouts

• Regular Season & Playoff Formats (Regular Season Standings Format Amended 4/2/16)

- The Regular Season will take place between Weeks 1-13 of the NFL season.

- The Regular Season will consist of BOTH Head-to-Head matchups and Total Points scored in a given week.

Head-to-Head - Each team will have an opponent each week that they are trying to outscore.

Total Points - Each week, the top 5 scoring teams will be awarded a win.

- With the combination of two standings formats, it is a possibility for a team to win 2, 1, or 0 (zero) games in a given week.

- As for the Playoffs, the top 6 teams (record-wise) will reach the playoffs beginning in Week 14; however, this will be based on Total Points alone. No head-to-head match-ups will take place during the Playoffs.

- Over the final 3 weeks of the season (Weeks 14, 15, and 16), the top 6 teams will be competing for the league championship by totaling their final 3 weeks of points together. The team to score the most points over the course of Weeks 14-16 will be crowned the league champion.

- As for the 4 teams not involved in the playoffs, they will also be competing over the course of the final 3 weeks in the same manner. However, these teams will be fighting for the top draft picks.

- The Tiebreaker entering the Playoffs will come down to the team(s) with the highest amount of Total Points accumulated during the regular season. If a tie remains, it will be possible to have a 7th team awarded a playoff spot.

- The Tiebreaker at the completion of the Playoffs will come down to the team(s) with the highest amount of Total Points accumulated during the regular season. If a tie remains, the team with the highest weekly score during the playoffs will be used. If a third tiebreaker is needed, the regular season head-to-head match-ups will determine the final standings.

• Yearly Payouts/Dynasty Prize

- Each Season, the payouts are as follows:

- 1st Place: 35%

- 2nd Place: 15%

- 3rd Place: 7%

- Regular Season Champion: 10%

- High Points Per Week: 13% (1% Per Week)

- Dynasty Pot: 20%

- Following the 2016 season, the league champion will have a chance at earning the Dynasty Prize by winning back-to-back championships.

- Each season the buy-in for the league is $100, with $20 per team ($200 total) going into the Dynasty Pot.

- The Dynasty Pot remains untouched until a team pulls off back-to-back championships.

Future Draft Formats

• 17-Man (NFL) Roster Drafts Following Each Season (No longer 3RR after 1st Season)

- With the top 6 teams fighting for a championship, they, too, likely have the better talent across their rosters. In an effort to create parity within the TGL, the top 6 finishing teams will hold the following draft positions in the next draft (Note: SNAKE format implemented):

- 1st Round: 10 - 5 (League Champion - 6th Place Finisher)

- 2nd Round: 1 - 6 (League Champion - 6th Place Finisher)

- The bottom 4 finishers will be arranged in the following manner depending on the results of the Loser's Playoff:

- 1st Round: 1 - 4 (Loser's Champion - 7th Place Finisher)

- 2nd Round: 10 - 7 (Loser's Champion - 7th Place Finisher)

- As for the Rookie Draft, it will again follow straight draft principles (NO Snake or 3RR). However, just 3 rounds make up the Rookie Draft.

- Last Place of Playoffs will receive a $100 boost to their FAAB budgets for the following season. Finishing last in both the regular season and playoffs does NOT grant a team double the amount of currency.

Cheaters & Miscellaneous

• Collusion/Cheating

- It goes without saying, neither collusion nor cheating will be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

- Dumping highly regarding players near the start of the playoffs.

- Trading with opponents to give them a clear/blatant/obvious advantage to win the league/playoffs.

- Conspiring with league members in any fashion deemed illegal by the commissioner or other members.

• Rules Creation

- All rules are subject to change.

- Rule changes will be submitted for vote amongst league members. A majority of 6 votes will be needed to amend or create a rule.

• Why a Separate Website?

- Though the TGL Dynasty League will make use of YAHOO! Fantasy Football service for most of its features (Online Draft, Setting Rosters, Live Scoring, etc.), some of the features essential to the TGL are better tracked manually - thus, the third-party website. As commissioner, I will be tracking draft orders, Keepers, Practice Squad Rosters, and trades involving draft picks to keep things organized and give you the opportunity to see/study what value is placed in the trades that take place.
